All Covington County government offices will remain closed today, according to a statement released last night by county administrator Brenda Petty.

“County Engineer Darren Capps, along with the Covington County Commission, has deemed it advisable to keep all county roads closed until further notice,” the announcement said.

“In consideration of this decision, all county offices will remain closed all day, Fri., Jan. 31, 2014. This decision was made to protect county employees and citizens from travelling on potentially unsafe, and closed, county roads.”
