Habitat for Humanity volunteers can see the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel for the home currently under construction for the Laney Family at the intersection of Airport Road and Oliver Taylor Road

HFH director Dale Pancake said volunteers are needed beginning at 9 a.m. tomorrow, Fri., Feb. 7, and on Saturday from 8 a.m. “until we finish.”

Pancake said the driveway has been put in at the home, which volunteers began constructing in November, and sod is being delivered first thing Friday morning.

“We need people to work, raking and smoothing out the ground,” he said. “The we will lay nine pallets of sod.”

Once the sod is in place, only a little landscaping will stand in the way of a finished project.

“We want to get as much as we can done on Friday, because Saturday it may rain,” Pancake said.

This is the organization’s fifth build, and the first home being built outside the corporate limits of a city. Other homes have been in Opp, Andalusia and Florala.
