Andalusia resident Lorene McCart is one of five candidates who will officially appear on the June 3 ballot for the office of Covington County revenue commissioner following the end of qualifying Friday.
McCart graduated from Walton High School in DeFuniak Springs, Fla. She attended Lurleen B. Wallace Community College before transferring to Wallace Community College, where she earned an associates degree in respiratory therapy in 1994.
In recent years, McCart has managed rental properties in Covington County, and said she believes her experience would serve her well in the role of revenue commissioner.
“I decided I wanted a new career,” McCart said. “I want to be of service to the community.”
McCart is a member of Oakey Ridge Baptist Church.
She and her husband Randall have three children, three grandchildren and two grandchildren due later this year.
