ALBERT JUNIOR GRIMES

Albert Junior Grimes, 89, of Andalusia, died Wed., Feb. 19, 2014, at Mizell Memorial Hospital in Opp.

Funeral services will be held Sat., Feb. 22, at 11 a.m. at Macedonia Methodist Church. The Rev. Douglas Golden will officiate. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church Saturday prior to the service, from 9 to 11 a.m.

Grimes is survived by a sister, Annie Ruth Meredith of Rose Hill; two brothers, Wiley Grimes of Andalusia and Walter Grimes of Opp; and numerous nieces and nephews.

SYBLE LOUISE TOMPKINS

Syble Louise Tompkins, born Sun., Feb. 13, 1921, in Andalusia, passed away Sat., Feb. 15, 2014, at Andalusia Manor.

Funeral services were held Wed., Feb. 19 at Southside Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Miller and the Rev. Bill Pritchett officiating. Interment followed in the Luverne Cemetery.

Tompkins was the daughter of Lonnie and Ida Vickery of Red Level. She married Willie Guy Tompkins on Sept. 30, 1939. The couple moved to Columbus, Ga., lived there for about six years, and returned to Covington County. She worked at the Andala/Alatex until she retired after 33 years of service.

She is survived by her son, Wayne Tompkins of Andalusia; daughters, Sandra Tompkins (R.D. Jr.) Owens of Andalusia and Vickie Tompkins Velten of Cypress, Texas; grandsons, Benjamin (Justine) Velten of Vermillion, S.D. and Luke Velten of College Station, Texas; brothers, Lonnie “Elwood” (Betty) Vickery of Cold Springs, Texas and Glen Vickery of Tomball, Texas; sister, Betty Vickery Head of Athens, Ga.; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Willie Guy Tompkins; son-in-law, Robert Velten; brothers, Cary Vickery, Everette Vickery, Curtis Vickery, Plennie “Jack” Vickery and Terry Vickery; sisters, Hazel Vickery, Elsie Vickery Tompkins and Joan Vickery Venuti.

Pallbearers included Dwight Layton, Chris Layton, Dwight Rathel, Brunson Nichols, Robert Copeland and Madison Copeland.

She will always be remembered for her love of God, church, family and friends. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church for more than 50 years.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Southside Baptist Church in Andalusia.

DOROTHY A. JACKSON

Dorothy A. Jackson, 71, of Andalusia, died Tues., Feb. 18, 2014, at Opp Nursing Facility.

Funeral services will be held today, Fri., Feb. 21 at 11 a.m. at Foreman Funeral Home chapel. Bro. Greg Cotter and Vicki Popwell will officiate. Interment will be in Harmony Cemetery. Visitation will be today prior to the service, from 9 to 11 a.m.

Jackson is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Bobby Lee and Susan Johns; daughters and son-in-law, Anita Johns and Susie and Collis Worley; grandchildren, Kevin Johns, Austin Johns and Jessica Johns (Andy) Gibson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leavi and Alice Williams; brother, Jerry Williams; and sister, Debra Williams.

Pallbearers will be Bubba Evers, Robert Evers, Buddy Johns, Larry Popwell, Gary Goodsonand Donnie Williams.

TIMOTHY WARD SR.

Timothy (Buck) Ward Sr., 45, a resident of Andalusia, passed away Wed., Feb. 19, 2014, in a Montgomery hospital.

Funeral services will be Sat., Feb. 22 at 10 a.m. from the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Allen Joyner officiating. Burial will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home of Georgiana, Ala. Directing will be arrangements.

Ward was preceded in death by his mother, Janice Elaine Crawford Ward.

He is survived by his wife, Tammy Ward of Andalusia; daughter, Brittany Merritt of McKenzie; sons, Timothy Ward Jr. and Brandon Ward, both of Andalusia; father, Billy Ward of McKenzie; sisters, Billie Chesser of Georgiana, Dwanna Coburn and Mae Merritt, both of

McKenzie, and Tracy Ward of Flomaton, Ala; and granddaughter, Sophia Merritt of McKenzie. Pallbearers will be Justin Merritt, Junior Merritt, Victor Chesser, William Harris, Jeremy Harris, Lewis Coburn, Ashley Beasley and Gerald Merritt.

Visitation will be Friday from 6 until 8 p.m.

Fay T. Mooney, 89, of Andalusia, passed away Sun., Feb. 16, 2014, at her residence.

Graveside services will be held Sat., Feb. 22 at 3 p.m. at Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing. The Rev. Steve Cumbie will officiate.

She is survived by her son, Ferrell (Anette) Mooney of Frankewing, Tenn.; grandchildren, Travis Mooney and Quentin Mooney; great-grandchildren, Logan, Lexi, Emma and Knox Mooney; and several nieces and nephews.
