Opp just had one bad inning earlier tonight.

Slocomb scored eight runs in the top of the third inning and the Red Tops beat OHS 13-9 in regular season action.

The main culprit for the Bobcats was pitching, OHS coach Michael Cassady said.

“We just can’t win when we walk seven and have three or four hit batters, along with having a couple errors on top of that,” Cassady said. “You can’t win when you have six hits.”

Jacob Johnson went 2-for-4 with two doubles to lead the Bobcats behind the plate.

This loss came on a night after OHS smoldered New Brockton 10-0 in five innings for its season opener.

A bright spot for the Bobcats was their ability to hold SHS scoreless the rest of the way.

That didn’t matter in the grand scheme of things, Cassady said.

“They had one big inning that cost us, but it goes back to pitching. We lost focus,” he said. “We didn’t make plays when we needed to, and didn’t get any outs when we needed to.”

The Bobcats are back in action tomorrow at Rehobeth. OHS plays RHS and Crestview, Fla. in doubleheader action.
