The wait is over for this year’s Cookies with Characters event, which takes place today at the Covington Kiwanis Center.

More than 50 characters, including Disney princes and princess, popular cartoon characters and superheroes, will be on hand for today’s festivities with two showings at 1 and 5 p.m.

Coordinator Kiley Spears said the first show, dubbed the “Silly Show,” will begin at 1 p.m. and will conclude at 3 p.m. Doors open at noon. A second event, the “Glow Show” will take place today from 5 to 7 p.m. Doors open at 4 p.m. Spears said lighting is the only difference between the two shows.

Both shows will include cookies, games, souvenirs and chances for autographs and pictures with the characters.

Admission to today’s event is $5, with all proceeds going to benefit Meredith’s Miracles.
