First Saturday events on tap in Paxton

Florida Farmers Market will resume its First Saturday Craft Show events this Sat., March 1.

Dave Palmer, who owns the business with his wife, Heather Johnson, said the craft and farm events began in the fall and occur year-round, with the exceptions of January and February.

“January is cold, and February is Cancer Freeze,” Palmer said. “Every other first Saturday of the month, we do a craft show with local vendors, plus farmers who show up. This time, we’re not expecting any farmers, but next month we probably will.”

Booths are $15 for First Saturday events. This week, they are expecting vendors including Celebrated Home; handmade jewelry; baby items; Thirty-One; and embroidery.

“We also invite – anyone wants to do a historical craft demonstration to join us,” he said, adding there is no charge.

“We’re just trying to give Paxton something to look forward to every month,” Palmer said. “We have seven booths, that are 12 x 14 stalls. If we fill those, then we can expand into the parking lot with tents. We usually have seven to 12 vendors.”

The Florida Farmers Market, which includes a café and gift shop, is open seven days a week from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Vendors are welcome any day, but on days other than First Saturday events, the charge is 15 percent for farmers or crafters.
