Albritton, Pickron fastest runners Saturday

James Albritton was the fastest male runner in St. Mary’s Mardi Gras 5K for its rice and beans ministry. Albritton, who attends St. Mary’s Episcopal Church and ran with members of the Andalusia High School soccer team, finished in 21:12.

Teresa Pickron outpaced the women, finishing in 23.28.

A field of more than 150 runners and walkers participated in the event.

Category winners in the run were:

• Age 9 – 12: Maisy Garner, 27:50; Logan Adams, 22:21.

• Age 13 – 19: Tara Carrasco, 25:07; James Albritton, 21:12.

• Age 20-29: Teresa Pickron, 23:28; Cody McCain, 33:26.

• Age 30-39: Jeanette Waters, 31:13; Josh Gunter, 23:53.

• Age 40-49: Romona Thomas, 26:02; John Peek, 27:19.

• Age 50-59: Lisa Locklier, 25:17; Randy Hildreth, 24:45.

• 60 and up: Karen Johnson, 41:50; Tex Powell, 31:14.

Linda Mellown was the fastest female walker in Saturday’s 5K, finishing in 39:31. Darryl Galloway was the fastest male walker.

Category winners were:

• Age 20-29: Tambry Jewell, 46:15.

• Age 30-39: Bobby Myer, 42:22; John Morris, 54:47

• Age 40-49: Jean McCleland, 44:04.

• Age 50-59: Linda Mellown, 39:31; Michael Blackmon, 44:27

• 60 and up: Barbara Russell, 44:04; Rick Simmons, 45:31.
