Injured Trooper released

An Alabama State Trooper who was struck by a vehicle north of Luverne Thursday evening was released from the hospital Friday morning, and is at home resting.

His identity has not been released.

According to Trooper Kevin Cook, public information officer, the Trooper was assisting a motorist on U.S. 29 two miles north of Luverne, when he was struck by the vehicle.

“The trooper, who was wearing a reflective vest and had emergency lights activated, was directing traffic when he was struck,” Cook said.

He was transported to Crenshaw Community Hospital in Luverne for treatment of his injuries.

The extent of the injuries was not released.

Nothing further is being released at this time, as the incident is under investigation.
