Bulldogs top Opp in tennis

Andalusia swept Opp in boys and girls tennis Monday afternoon at the LBWCC.

In boys action, the Bulldogs dropped only four games in both singles and doubles, while the girls only fell in three.

The Lady Bulldogs were led by Elisabeth Christensen, Rachel Dayton, Jodi Watson, C.J. Capps and Karlee Shirey, who won 8-0 each in No. 2-6 singles. Sarah Atkinson put up a good match against Sara Lindsey in No. 1 singles, winning 8-1.

In girls No. 1 doubles, Atkinson and Dayton defeated Lindsey and Hope Northey of Opp 8-0; in No. 2 doubles, Watson and Capps defeated Opp’s Lydia Grissett and Samantha Hollinghead 8-2; and in No. 3 doubles, Christensen and Shirey defeated Opp’s Genesis Drake and Asia Rogers 8-0.

On the boys side of things, the Bulldogs were led by Brandon Scruggs, Jackson Moore, Ian Peek and Ari Carter, who won their respective matches 8-0 in No. 1-4 singles. Coby Stewart defeated Opp’s Garrett Lester 8-1 in No. 5 singles; and Willie Riedel defeated Stevie Turner 8-2 in No. 6 singles.

In boys No. 1 doubles, Scruggs and Carter defeated Opp’s Omari Cooper and Mathew McCullough 8-0; in No. 2 doubles, Peek and Moore defeated LaQuinn Lane and Keene Wyatt 8-1; and in No. 3 doubles, Riedel and Stewart defeated Lester and Turner 8-0.

The Bulldogs are back in action today at T.R. Miller.
