Humane Society plans art contest

In conjunction with the upcoming Three Notch Market festival, the Andalusia Area Humane Society is sponsoring an animal art contest for children in kindergarten through fifth grade.

AAHS employee Debra Evans said the contest is also in recognition of Be Kind to Animals Week, which runs May 5-11.

Evans said the art contest, which is open to students throughout Covington County, has an entry deadline of Mon., April 21, and winners will be announced Sat., May 3, during the festival.

Evans said first, second and third-place winners will be chose from each grade level, with winning entries to be displayed at the LAAC Art Gallery in downtown Andalusia throughout May. Additionally, two grand-prize winners will chosen – one from the K-2 and one from grades three through five.
