It was the same story and same result for Andalusia’s soccer team Thursday night in a 6-3 road loss to Robertsdale.
AHS coach Tim Ramsden said what stuck out to him was that the players didn’t play with as much “heart” as normal.
“We’re not addressing the ball, and not winning a lot of headers,” Ramsden said. “We’ve got to get more physical.”
A big highlight for the Bulldogs was that two of the middle schoolers scored.
Lonzell Bryant and Michael Taylor scored in the loss, and Ramsden said “it was very good to see a middle schooler score in a high school game.”
Additionally, Andalusia played seventh-grader Mary Katherine Salter up front.
“She’s holding her own,” Ramsden said about Salter.
Ramsden said Zach Parker and Kiki Wain played well for the Bulldogs also. Parker scored the third goal for AHS.
“For a little guy, he made himself a lot bigger,” the coach said about Wain.
One other thing the Bulldogs must improve on is playing together, Ramsden said.
“We really could’ve done better tonight,” he said.
In addition to suffering from two injuries, the Bulldogs were without three because of a suspension for violating team rules and one due to an illness.
Andalusia will be back in action on Monday at Enterprise.
