Andalusia’s junior varsity baseball picked up its first win Saturday, snapping a 10-game losing streak in a 8-5 victory over Park Crossing in the final game of their annual brawl tournament.
The Bulldogs got out to a hot start, scoring seven runs in the first inning.
PC, a new school in Montgomery that houses ninth and 10th graders, came back to stack four runs in the second.
AHS didn’t back down in its effort to search for a win as it played good defense in key situations.
Most of the Bulldogs’ runs in the first came on aggressive hitting and base-running. The good guys took advantage of PC errors in the field to find their way home.
Andalusia’s Will Jones highlighted the bottom of the fourth inning with an inside-the-park home run to give the Bulldogs an 8-4 advantage.
Jones went 3-for-3 with a double, a home run and two runs; Taylor Griffin went 1-for-3 with a run; Nathan Langley went 1-for-3 with a single; Ridge Riley went 1-for-2 with a single and a run; and Clay Stephens, Nathan Mancil and Will Piggott scored one run each for AHS.
Langley threw three innings and struck out two for the win.
