Andalusia’s Lady Bulldogs fell 11-10 to New Brockton and 7-0 to Brantley in pool play of Straughn’s KLD softball tournament Friday night.

AHS battled back from a 6-1 deficit in its first game, tied it at 6-all and bounced back again in bottom of the fourth to force the international tiebreaker rule to go into effect. All pool pay games ended after 75 minutes of play.

Haley Harper’s RBI single cut New Brockton’s lead to 10-7 to start the fourth. Abbie Young then hit a two-run double, and Andi Hughes hit a hard RBI double to tie the game at 10-10.

On Hughes’ hit, the Lady Bulldogs tried to win the game by sending Olivia Anderson home, but the outfielder made a great throw home to get the last out.

New Brockton scored its eventual game-winning run on a ground out. AHS couldn’t get anything going in the last inning.

There were no stats available on Andalusia’s second game.

In action today, New Brockton will play Red Level at 10 a.m.; and Florala plays Andalusia at noon to start single elimination bracket play. Straughn — the No. 1 seed out of Pool A — and Brantley — the No. 1 seed out of Pool B — play at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively, in the tournament semifinals.

On Tuesday, Florala beat Andalusia 4-3.

The championship game is slated for 6 tonight.
