Straughn started putting together a complete game over the weekend as the Lady Tigers defeated Brantley 3-2 to win their annual Kirsten L. Dean Softball Tournament Saturday.

Paige Taylor led SHS with two hits and two RBIs; Sarah Langford had one hit; and Coby Adams had one hit and one RBI.
Lady Tigers coach Kenny Skipper said Gantt’s first pitches were strikes for 16 of 27 batters faced during the championship game.
“Pretty much, we finally started playing a complete game,” Skipper said about the weekend’s games. “Earlier on Thursday, we hit better.”
To get to the championship game, Straughn defeated New Brockton 7-0 in the semifinals.
Taylor went 1-for- with two RBIs; Kristen Peavy went 2-for-4 with three RBIs; and Adams had a sac fly.
Gantt, the work horse for SHS, didn’t give up a hit until the sixth inning against the Lady Gamecocks. She gave up one hit and struck out six batters. Gantt didn’t give up a walk during the day.
Skipper said this is good timing for the team because he feels the girls are starting to get into a good stride.
In other action, Andalusia defeated Florala 11-1 in pool play. New Brockton beat Red Level, 19-3.
The Lady Tigers will be back in action tomorrow at Brantley for the third meeting in five days.
