Opp won the 2014 Butch Youmans Memorial Tournament after defeating T.R. Miller 11-1 on Tuesday night.

Walker Messer went five innings and gave up three hits and one run to earn the win on the mound during a chilly and windy evening.

Bobcats baseball coach Michael Cassady was thankful that his boys won the tournament.

“I want to say that the man we named this tournament after — I know we made him proud (Tuesday night),” Cassady said. “He was looking down on us and smiling. For all that he did for these boys, we’re glad we won this tournament for him.

“We just want to thank his family and everything they’ve done,” he said. “It was all for him.”

Opp, who finished 3-0, won the tournament by the run rule. The Bobcats had to give up four or less to the Tigers for first place. Andalusia also finished 3-0 and placed second.

In earlier action, the Bobcats blasted W.S. Neal, 22-5.
