CEC to mark 70th year at annual meeting

Covington Electric Cooperative will celebrate its 70th anniversary at the 2014 annual membership meeting to be held Thurs., April 3, at the Kiwanis Community Center.

The Talleys, a popular gospel group, will entertain during the meeting. CEC will host a member services booth to provide energy savings information, and representatives from the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association will be there to promote www.action.coop in an effort to inform members about regulatory issues impacting electric cooperatives.

More than 30 attendance prizes will be given to lucky CEC members at this year’s meeting. The major prizes to be given away are: a 1999 Ford Ranger truck; a 6’ x 10’ utility trailer; a flat screen TV; a $300 Visa Gift Card, a $200 Visa Gift Card and a $100 Visa Gift Card. Each CEC member who registers at the meeting will receive a free com-memorative set of knives and a $10 bill credit. Members must be properly registered at the meeting to be eligible to win a prize. During a brief business session, a report on CEC operations will be presented, and two members will be elected to three-year terms on the board of trustees to represent Districts V and VI.

Some seating will be available at the meeting, but members are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs. Registration will begin at 4 p.m.; entertainment starts around 5 p.m.; and the business session begins at 7 p.m.
