Prayer is often referred to as the most powerful of tools, and today it will certainly be employed as millions gather across the country for the annual National Day of Prayer event.

In Covington County, groups will gather in both Andalusia and Florala to listen to testimony and sermons – and, of course, to pray together.

“We will meet at the Rodney J. Evans building at Lake Jackson (in Florala) at 7 p.m.,” organizer Karen Long said. “The message will be brought this year by the Rev. Walter Albritton.”

The theme for Florala’s event this year is, “One Voice United in Prayer.”

In Andalusia, National Day of Prayer will be observed with a public service held on the town square in front of the Covington County Courthouse. The service is slated to begin at noon.
