Andalusia Elementary School third graders took a trip around the world Friday, tasting different cuisines and learning about various cultures – and all without leaving school.

Third-grade teacher Amber Clark said the school’s annual Feasting Around the World event gives students the opportunity to learn about the way children live in countries across the globe.

“This is a way to teach them different cultures and customs,” Clark said. “We’re going to have the Andalusia Ballet come in and do a ballet from France and Mark Rudd is going to do a karate demonstration.”

Clark said students were treated to different dishes from around the world and were also encouraged to dress in the fashion of a different culture.

“The Andalusia City Schools Foundation gives us grant to do this each year,” Clark said. “We also get a lot of help from the parents.”
