Shumpert, Roberts plan May wedding

Bob and Rhonda Shumpert of Tupelo, Miss., announce the engagement of their daughter, Katie Marie Shumpert, to Benjamin Bradley Roberts, son of Don and Lori Roberts of Vestavia Hills, Ala.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Thelma Shumpert and the late Charles William “Billy” Shumpert of Tupelo, and the late Leland Jay Brown of the Dorsey community and the late Verble Franks Bowden of Mantachie, Miss.
Miss Shumpert is a 2008 cum laude graduate of The University of Mississippi with a bachelors degree in exercise science. She earned a masters of health promotion from Mississippi State University in 2009. She attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham where she received a doctorate of physical therapy. Miss Shumpert is currently employed as a physical therapist at UAB Hospital.
The prospective groom is the grandson of Sybil Ezell Smith and the late Charles Franklin Smith of Andalusia, and the late Lester and Dixie Roberts of Oxford.
Dr. Roberts is a 2010 cum laude graduate of Birmingham-Southern College with a B. S. in Chemistry. He is a 2014 graduate of the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham. Dr. Roberts will begin his residency training in anesthesiology at UAB Hospital this summer.
The couple will exchange vows on May 31, 2014 at 6 p.m. at Harrisburg Baptist Church. A reception will follow at The Antler in Tupelo. The couple will reside in Birmingham.
