“There’s an app for that” has a new meaning for the Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce, which recently launched its mobile app through MyChamberApp.

MyChamberApp is a mobile directory built for the Chamber of Commerce community.

Chamber Executive Vice President Chrissie Duffy said she launched the app last week.

“We’ve generated a lot of interest,” she said.

Duffy said she began researching the possibility of developing a chamber app months ago, but stumbled upon the MyChamberApp, which made the process simple.

Duffy said the app is available for free for Apple and Android.

“The Chamber is incurring the expense, but it’s a great value for our community,” she said.

The app features all Chamber members and serves as an interactive mobile directory, she said.

“Each member has a listing that will give information about your business, GPS map of your address, click to call telephone button, click to follow website button, and the ability to post events and promotions,” Duffy said. “This will be a valuable resource not only for the membership, but for tourists and new residents of Covington County.”

Duffy said that more people access the Internet through their mobile device than desktop computers.

In fact, she said, 89 percent of the time users utilize their mobile app, while 11 percent of the time they use the mobile web.

“A website is simply not enough of a presence on the web anymore,” she said.

Duffy said that in addition to the information listed, businesses can utilize the app to announce events and special promotions.

“Just send me any information you want listed, and we will add them to the app,” she said. “We also will be able to get reports on visits and referrals from the app to know just how well it’s working. I hope you are as excited as we are, and we’d love to hear your feedback.”
