The search for two suspects in the Tuesday-morning shooting of a man in Crestview was ongoing in the Opp area Wednesday; however, Crestview Police Department officials now say the scope of the search could be widening.

According to CPD Lt. Andrew Schneider, a male victim was shot in the chest just before noon Tuesday on Powell Drive in Crestview. The victim was admitted to North Okaloosa Medical Center and later taken by helicopter to a Sacred Heart hospital in Pensacola, Fla. to be treated for non-life threatening wounds.

While it was initially thought that the two suspects, both black males approximately 6-foot tall, were traveling in a pick-up truck with Covington County tags, Schneider said the vehicle has been identified as a late-80s or early-90s model primer grey Chevrolet car. Schneider said the vehicle’s tags have been identified as being from Alabama, but a specific county has not been officially determined. The suspects’ last known direction of travel was north towards Opp.

Schneider said anyone with any information about the incident or the whereabouts of the suspects is asked to call CPD at 850.682.2055.
