The Covington County Commission Tuesday pledged $5,000 in the current fiscal year, and $10,000 next year, for the development of a child advocacy center.
The center will be a partnership between Andalusia Regional Hospital, Department of Human Resources, the district attorney’s office, and law enforcement agencies throughout the county, DHR director Lesa Syler said.
Other governments already have made financial pledges to the project.
In other business, the commission:
• Approved the development of Point A River Camp subdivision, part of the original Highway Harbor subdivisions.
• Proclaimed Amateur Radio Week June 23-29.
Amateur radio operator Tim Trent said every year the local group has a field day to work on emergency procedures. The event will be in Sweet Home Alabama Park.
