Two Andalusia residents were injured, one critically, Thursday morning in a single-vehicle accident in Okaloosa County, Fla.

Connie Anders, 40, was traveling southbound on State Road 189, just south of Joe Jordan Road, at approximately 7:55 a.m. when she swerved the 2001 Ford F-150 pick-up truck she was driving to avoid striking an animal in the roadway, according to an accident report by the Florida Highway Patrol. The vehicle then entered the west shoulder of the road, where Anders over corrected, causing the vehicle to swerve left, re-enter the roadway, travel southeast across both lanes of traffic and overturn several times on the east shoulder of the road. According to the report, the vehicle came to a rest facing southwest.

Anders was seriously injured in the accident, while her passenger, 40-year-old Jeremy Anders, was critically injured. Both individuals were transported to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Fla.

According to FHP, alcohol was not a factor in the crash, and both driver and passenger were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
