Those interested in running for select seats on the Andalusia City and Opp City School boards can put their names in the hat as early as next week.

In Andalusia, seats in districts 1, 3, and 5 are up for election.

Seats are currently held by Joe Nix in District 1, David Bryant in District 3 and David McCalman in District 5.

In Opp, seats in districts 1, 2, and 4 are up for election.

In Opp, Alan Thrash currently represents District 1, Dr. Walter Burgess represents District 2 and William Hines represents District 4.

Qualifying begins July 1 and will go through July 15 until 5 p.m.

A potential candidate must have resided in the district for at least 90 days prior to the election. He or she must be a registered voter in the district in which he or she will run.

The election is scheduled for Aug. 26, with a run-off scheduled for Oct. 7, if necessary.
