It was 25 years ago that Tony Mims’ class ring went missing.
He jokes that he isn’t quite sure what happened to it, but he has his ideas.
The 1986 Straughn High School graduate said he recently attended a reunion, where a former classmate brought him the ring.
“Our teacher, Doyle Kinsaul, found it on a dirt road near Straughn,” Mims said. “He had his son, Benjie, bring it to me at our class reunion.”
Mims said classmates kept telling him that Benjie had something for him.
“I was excited and confused,” he said. “It’s been run over, and the bottom is bent.”
Apparently, Mr. Kinsaul found the ring “a while back,” but forgot about it.
“He found it again here recently,” Mims said. “He took it to the school and they were able to find it was mine. They traced it back to me.”
Mims considers himself a “pretty lucky guy.”
“The ring I had made to replace it, I lost it on a tractor,” he said. “A lady and her son found it on the side of the road, and now my other one has been found.”
