Let Freedom ring

Fourth of July is just days away and there is plenty to do for the holiday.

As an added activitiy, the Old Three Notch Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will host their first Fourth of July parade.

The event is set for 10 a.m., Fri., July 4, and the organization has opened it to anyone who wants to participate from bicycles to vehicles.

Parade line-up will be in the First Baptist Church’s parking lot, and the parade will run from East Three Notch Street to Sixth Avenue, where it will turn and go one block to the Covington County Veterans Memorial.

In Opp, festivities will be held at Frank Jackson State Park.

The band County Road 440 will headline the event, along with Tori and Robin Resinour and the Opp city choir.

Free Pepsi, water, hotdogs and watermelon will be available.

Fireworks will start at dark-30.

“Make plans now to be there,” said Robert Boothe of WOPP.

Free admission to the park after noon and music starts at 2 p.m.

In Andalusia, Fourth of July fireworks, sponsored by the City of Andalusia, will begin at 8:30 p.m., at the Kiwanis fairgrounds.

Gates will open at 4:30 p.m.

Free watermelon slices will be available.

Entertainment will be by Jessica Walker and Josh Page and the Ric McNaughton Band.
