EVELYN AUGUSTA MITCHELL

Evelyn Augusta Mitchell, 89, of Andalusia, passed away Mon., June 30, 2014.

Funeral services will be held Thurs., July 3, at 2 p.m. at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Larry Smith will officiate. Interment will follow in the Sweet Home Baptist Church Cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Mitchell, loving wife of James Cantie Mitchell of McKenzie, departed this world, leaving behind a loving sister, Geraldine Rhodes of Foley; sons, James Mitchell (Carolyn) of Fairhope and Jerry Mitchell (Francis) of Montgomery; grandsons, Earnest (Amanda) Mitchell of Daphne, J. Christopher (Melody) Mitchell of Fairhope and John (Angie) Mitchell of Wetumpka; and great-grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew, Liberty, Ramsey and Alex.

She has gone to be with her grandson, Stephen Mitchell in Heaven.

There was never a more loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. We will miss her until the day we join her in Heaven.

CHARLES WOOD THOMASSON

Charles Wood Thomasson, 81, of Andalusia, passed away Sat., June 28, 2014, at his residence.

He was born July 31, 1932, to Charlie E. and Runie Hare Thomasson. A native of Andalusia, he finished high school at Pleasant Home. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. Later, he was employed by the local branch of the U.S. Postal Service, having retired after 24 years of service. Most importantly, he was a faithful member of the Cedar Grove Church of Christ, where he served as a teacher, deacon and elder over the years.

Funeral services were held Tues., July 1, at Cedar Grove Church of Christ, with interment following in the church cemetery. Ministers Eddie Boggess and Douglas Williams officiated the service.

Thomasson is survived by his wife of almost 62 years, Audie Thomasson of Andalusia; daughters, Cynthia T. Harrison of Dothan, Celia T. (Mark) Tate and Carol T. (Jim) Hancock of Abilene, Texas; son, Charles Rocky (Kim) Thomasson of Daingerfield, Texas; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and brother, Esker (Ann) Thomasson of Andalusia.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie E. and Runie Thomasson.

Memorials may be made to the Cedar Grove Cemetery Fund.

Pallbearers were his grandsons, Michael Thomasson, Jerrod Hancock, Jordan Hancock, Adam Tate, James Ryne Hancock, Andrew Tate, Aric Tate and Jeff Womble.
Honorary pallbearers were Brett and Brian Harrison.

GROVER GUNTER

Grover Gunter, of Andalusia, passed away Tues., July 1, 2014, at Andalusia Regional Hospital.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Keahey Funeral Home.

MALVIN OWENS

Malvin Owens, 101, of Andalusia, passed away June 28, 2014, at Parkwood Healthcare.

Funeral Services will be held today, Wed., July 2, at 1 p.m. at the Keahey Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Durwood Cleland will officiate. Interment will follow at the Mt. Gilead Baptist church cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing.

Owens is survived by her grandchildren, Donald (Kathy) Plott and Lisa (Steve) Baughman, both of Opelika; great-grandchildren, Jerry (Erica) Plott, Christina Bishop, David (Krista) Pope and Bryan (Hannah) Price; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her spouse, Douglas Owens and her daughter, Retha Plott.
