The countdown to the first day of school is on, and the administrative staff at Andalusia Elementary School is looking for a little help from the community to get ready for the 2014-15 year.

Principal Alane Brunson said the staff has scheduled a workday for this coming Sat., July 19, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

“We would like to extend an invitation to the community to get involved in the AES Beautification Project,” she said. “ There are a few tasks that we would like to have completed before school begins in August to enhance the facility and beautify the school campus.”

Planned projects include painting, pressure washing, weed eating, landscaping, wood working and general cleaning.

“We will have the supplies available on July 19,” Brunson said. “However, if you have tools or equipment (weed eaters, rakes, shovels, etc.) that would make the tasks easier, please bring them with you.”

As a thank you for the help, Superintendent Ted Watson and members of the AES staff will grill hamburgers and hotdogs for lunch.

Work is scheduled from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
