OppFest to span two days this year

Changes are coming to the 15th annual OppFest, organizers said this week.

Downtown Redevelopment Authority Chairman Tommie Norris said an extra day will be added to the festival, which is set for Oct. 24 and 25.

“As a former vendor myself, I know that it’s more profitable for vendors when they can have two days as opposed to only setting up from 8-5,” he said. “We want to make it a bigger draw for them.”

Coming off a strong year for last year’s OppFest, organizers hope the change will result in an even more profitable and enjoyable festival.

Norris said the organization is putting out a call for vendors for the event.

The festival is set up along Main Street, Covington Avenue and Hart Avenue.

Each year there are vendors ranging from food to novelties to games for people to enjoy.

The nearly 100 vendor spots fill up quickly.

Cost is $45 for arts and crafts vendors and $100 for food vendors.
