Former coach named principal

A former Andalusia High School head football coach has been named secondary principal at Montgomery’s Alabama Christian Academy.

Doug Prater graduated from the University of Alabama, where he also played football under Coach “Bear” Bryant there. He began his career in education at then Alabama Christian College in the early 1980s as a teacher and head football coach. He taught in public education for several years, serving as football coach here.

Prater also served as the principal at Brewton Middle School for 13 years before retiring from public education.
