This year’s Opp Fest is set to be the biggest yet, according to details released Wednesday from organizers.
The Springs are set to perform at this year’s Opp Fest.
The group, who performed at last year’s Opp Rattlesnake Rodeo, will perform Oct. 24, from 8:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
The duo recently won CMA Fest’s Up and Coming Artists award.
“We are very excited to have The Springs joining us for Opp Fest this year,” said Downtown Redevelopment Authority Chairman Tommie Norris. “We know they were a huge hit during the rodeo in 2013, and many hoped they could return for this past rodeo.”
The music duo met in Nashville at the world famous Bluebird Cafe. Stewart Halcomb had won a Paramount “Star Search” competition at the age of 16, while the female singer of the duo, Holly, had made it to the third round of the preliminaries of NBC’s “The Voice.”
The Springs performances are a cross between Jason Aldean and Carrie Underwood, offering something for everyone making for a sing-a-long crowd pleasing good time.
They have been performing their high energy country/southern rock shows with acts Hunter Hayes, Eric Church, Florida-Georgia Line, Jake Owen, Alan Jackson, Toby Keith, Reba and many other top artists.
Saturday night’s entertainment will feature Alabama’s E-Town, who will kick off at 7 p.m., on Oct. 25.
Main Ingredients from Montgomery will headline Saturday night’s entertainment.
Additionally, a carnival has been added to the event, and will open Oct. 22 and continue through Saturday evening in downtown Opp.
