A Straughn school bus was involved in a three-vehicle accident Tuesday, but there were no serious injuries reported.

The accident occurred on Dunn’s Bridge Road around 7 a.m., when a bus was picking up students.

A vehicle, with two Straughn students, struck another vehicle stopped behind the bus, pushing it off the road and continuing into the rear of the bus.

“There was serious damage to both vehicles,” Covington County Superintendent Shannon Driver said. “Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.”

Two students from the school bus were transported to a local hospital, as well as the driver in one vehicle. All were treated and released before noon, Driver said.

Andalusia Regional Hospital officials said that the all victims were treated and released.

“These school buses are well built and we saw that this morning,” Driver said. “Mr. Ricky Messick (transportation coordinator) said we should be able to repair the damages and the bus will be operational in a few days.”

Driver said there was good response from all personnel who responded to the scene and said those involved were very fortunate.

“We were very relieved and thankful that any injuries were very minor,” he said. “It’s proof that these buses are very well built and very safe.”
