The Good Samaritan who was struck by a vehicle while assisting victims in a two-vehicle crash on Sunday is expected to be out of work for more than six months.

Justin Calhoun, the Good Samaritan, was airlifted to Sacred Heart in Pensacola, Fla.

He suffered a broken arm and broken leg.

“He is now in stable condition and has had surgery on his leg to have a rod put in,” said Amy Migliaccio, whose husband is the manager at Rent-A-Center, where Calhoun is an employee.

Migliaccio said this week that Calhoun was expected to have a second surgery on Wednesday to repair his broken arm.

She said he is expected to undergo intense physical therapy.

Calhoun and wife, Cassidy, have two small children ages 2 and 11 months.

“Justin is the only one working at the time,” she said.

To help provide assistance, a benefit bake sale will be held on Saturday in front of Rent-A-Center.

If anyone would like to donate items for the bake sale, please drop them off at Rent-A-Center or contact Migliaccio.

“We will begin at 9 a.m., Saturday and go until in front of Rent-A-Center,” she said. “There will be jars set up around Opp and Andalusia, mostly at the banks, gas stations and several other locations.”

A Go Fund Me account has also been set up.

Additionally, a benefit yard sale will be held for the family on Oct. 25, beginning at 8 a.m., at Professional Hearing on River Falls Street.

Migliaccio said anyone who would like to donate items for the yard sale may drop them off at Professional Hearing or Rent-A-Center.
