Nov. 18, 2014, will be a special day for one local little boy, but the community’s help is needed.

Oan that day, Cooper Sasser will turn 5 years old.

Cooper was diagnosed in July of 2011 with leukemia, and he took his last oral chemo on Sept. 20 of this year, and had his port removed on Oct. 2.

To make his birthday extra special, family friend Ginny Cook is organizing Birthday Cards for Cooper.

“The Lord laid on my heart to do the Birthday Cards for Cooper,” she said. “This is a special year for this family and I wanted this community to be a special part of this celebration. No more cancer and no more chemo.”

Cook quoted Revelation 12:1, “We are over comers by the blood of the lamb and the word of our testimonies.”

“Cooper has a powerful testimony and he will share it with you, if you let him,” she said. “Also, the Bible says in 1 Corinthians 8:2, ‘but if any man love God, the same is known of him.’ Christy, Justin, Kennedy and Cooper love the Lord and it shows.

“So, with that being said, I would like for everyone to show this little boy some love on his fifth birthday and send him a card with a $1 in it, or more if they want.”

Cook praised Christy Sasser for obeying the Lord and reaching out through Cooper’s Crew to raise money to help others within the community who were battling illness, as her family was.

“The family has given to our community over the last three-and-a-half years, and I ask that you take the time and give them a special blessing and help bless Cooper with the best birthday ever,” she said. “It will not only give Christy and Justin a chance to get caught up on their medical bills, but allow Cooper to have a blessed birthday.”

Those interested in sending Cooper a card, may mail it to Cooper Sasser, P.O. Box 986, Andalusia, AL 36420.
