For the first time ever, the Lower Alabama Arts Coalition is holding a juried art show.
Sheila Rhea of the LAAC said Friday that the organization has been working on ways to draw people.
“A lot of people have the impression we are a museum,” she said. “We have things going on all the time, including a gallery, guitar lessons, and more. We want to draw more people.”
Rhea said anyone may enter the show.
“It’s an opportunity for us to get new people,” she said. “We have a lot who do beautiful work in the community.”
Rhea said there are already several signed up, and that interest is growing for the event.
“We hope to get more participants,” she said.
Categories include: acrylic, oil, watercolor, 3D, photography and miscellaneous.
Cost to enter is $45, if entered by Oct. 24 or $60 by Oct. 31. The price includes up to three pieces of work.
A $100 award will be given out for first place in each category, and a best in show will be awarded $500.
Rhea said artwork will be judged the first week of November. The show will run throughout the month, and a reception will be held on Nov. 18.
