LEE EARNEST “SMOKE ROLLER” GOLDSMITH

Mr. Lee Earnest “Smoke Roller” Goldsmith, 68, born May 17, 1946 in Greenville to the late Earnest and Earybell Goldsmith, was called to the Lord on Thurs., Oct. 16, 2014.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Sat., Oct. 25, at Kirk’s Funeral Chapel with Pastor Elder Joe A. Curry officiating. Interment will follow in Marshall Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Fri., Oct. 24, at Kirk’s Funeral Chapel.

He leaves to cherish his memory nine children, Beverly Elliot of Andalusia, Mary Elliot of Montgomery, Anita Elliot, Jennifer Goldsmith, Charlotte Goldsmith, Teresa Goldsmith Skanes and Mariah Goldsmith all of Andalusia and Marie Brown of Muncie, Ind.; one son who he called his “hero,” Willie (Trinadell) Goldsmith of Anderson, Ind.; four sisters, Bessie Marshall, Lola Gibson and Bertha Goldsmith all of Andalusia and Elnora (Richard) Smith of Brewton; one brother, Sammie (Christina) Goldsmith of Atlanta; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; one special nephew, Howard “Sidewinder” Marshall; five special friends, Mr. Chuck, Don Townsend and Dave Ball all of Anderson, Ind., Robert Davis of Andalusia and Tommy Burgess of River Falls.

He is preceded in death by both parents, Earnest and Earybell Goldsmith; three brothers, Iris, Worlee and Otis; sister, Old Mae; the true love of his life, Rosa Lee (Swain) Goldsmith; and a special friend, John L. Lasley of Anderson, Ind.

 

MARLETTE BATES NOLEN

Mrs. Marlette Bates Nolen, 86, of Andalusia, passed away Sat., Oct. 18, 2014, at Andalusia Manor.

A funeral service will be held today at 10 a.m., from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Alan Joyner officiating. Interment will follow in Mott Church of Christ Cemetery.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Demond and Jenelle Nolen and Andy and Sue Nolen both of Red Level; two grandsons, Greg (Norma) Nolen and Kyle (Ashley) Nolen both of Red Level; five great-grandchildren, Cale Nolen, Troy Nolen, Jonathon Nolen, Carlie Nolen and Charlie Nolen; and two great-great-grandchildren, Carson Nolen and Easton Parker.

Pallbearers will be Tony Nolen, Don Owens, Jim Hogg, Tony Holley, Dennis Bond and Bill Sellers.

LOMAS HAROLD NOLEN

Mr. Lomas Harold Nolen, 73, a resident of Greenville, passed away on Sat., Oct. 18, 2014.

A celebration of life will be on Wed., Oct. 22, at 3 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Harvill officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmont Cemetery in Red Level, with Johnson Funeral Home directing arrangements.

A gathering of family and friends will be Wed., Oct. 22, from 1:30 p.m. until service time.

Mr. Nolen is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara M. Nolen.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Nolen, McKenzie; daughters, Shay Hallford, Georgiana, Vicki Grissett, Andalusia, Jackie Robinson, Gaffney, S.C., and Kaye Josey, Opp; grandchildren, Morgan Robinson, Mollie Robinson, Rachel Josey, Rebecca Josey, Reid Josey, Jackson Vickery, Madison Chesser, Meagan (Patrick) Cook, Justin (Rachel) Faust, Kyle (Jenna) Grissett and Casey Grissett; and four great-grandchildren.

MARTIN

Mrs. Clara Morgan Martin, 82, of Andalusia, passed away Fri., Oct. 17, 2014, at her residence.

A funeral service was held Mon., Oct. 20, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Jo Ann and Joe Kiser of Mountainbrook and Dorothy and Tommy Thompson of Andalusia; her stepson and daughter-in-law, Harold and Cindy Martin of Creola; three grandchildren, David Wadlington, Brian Wadlington and Clarisa Nixon; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Bobby and Vicky Morgan of Opp, Cecil and Thelma Morgan of Andalusia and Ronald and Doris Morgan of Andalusia; and one sister and brother-in-law, Betty Sue and Wayne Sasser of Opp.

Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her husbands, Clint Curry and Roy Martin; and sons, Jerry and Michael Curry.

FRITZ F. DUENSING

Mr. Fritz F. Duensing, 91, of Andalusia, passed away Thurs., Oct. 16, 2014, at Andalusia Regional Hospital.

A graveside service was held at Sun., Oct. 19, from Able Cemetery with Bro. James Coleman officiating.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Duensing of Andalusia; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Clarence Lint of Andalusia; sister, Thelma Morgan of Milton, Fla.; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Duensing; sister, Clara Mae Gantt; and step-children, Dale Griffin and Randy Campbell.

Pallbearers include; Bill Wofford, Howard Oliver, Larry Sanders, Sonny Cravey, Wayne King and Jimmy McCoy.
