Covington County’s Relay for Life will hold its first organizational meeting in November, and has set a fundraising goal of $100,000.

The 2015 event is set for April 24, at the Kiwanis Fairgrounds.

“Last year the 2014 Covington County Relay for Life was a huge success and we just learned that 10 Covington County residents were helped this year by the funds that we collected,” Randi Bozeman, of the Relay for Life committee, said. “One patient from Covington County stayed 26 nights at the Hope Lodge in New Orleans for treatment and nine patients from Covington County stayed a combined total of 209 nights at the Hope Lodge in Birmingham. We were very thrilled to hear this news and are looking forward to making this year even more of a success to help all of those in need.”

A kickoff meeting for team captains and anyone interested in having a team is set for Nov. 18, at the Holiday Inn Express at 5:30 p.m.

Additionally, the annual Relay for Life Pageant is set for Feb. 28, at the LBWCC Martha and Solon Dixon Center.
