Coach Brian Seymore, who resigned his coaching duties at AHS on Thursday, released this statement Thursday night:

“The time has come to give up the reigns as the ‘ole ball coach’ at Andalusia High School. What a blessing this small town has been to the Seymore family. The special bond that has been made with so many people will be what I cherish the most. I want to thank the Andalusia administration for seven unforgettable years while serving as the head football coach. Sometimes tough decisions have to be made and sometimes you have to be able to accept change.

“I feel this year was a tough year in many aspects, but that does not change the pride and love I have for my fellow coaches, players and this community. I did not meet the expectations set for myself and this team. No one will ever put more pressure on me, than I put on myself!

“I will miss the time spent in the weight room, the practice field and roaming the sidelines. Most of all I will miss the relationship with my players and my coaching friends. It’s the daily grind of competition that makes the game of football so special. I know my Lord and Savior has a perfect plan for me and my family. This is a journey we will soon face but the memories we leave behind will forever be in our hearts!

“I hope the administration finds the perfect fit for Andalusia because these young men deserve nothing less. The toughest part of this was my son saying, “Dad, I wanted you to coach me and I wanted it to be as an Andalusia Bulldog.”

“Thank you, Andalusia, for being a blessing in our life. I hope in some way we were a blessing to you!”a
