More charges added in theft case

Additional charges were made against a man arrested last week for the alleged theft and robbery of multiple vehicles.

Anthony Scott Brown, 28, of Crestview, Fla., was arrested on Tues., Nov. 4, after the Covington County Sheriff’s Office received reports of two stolen cars and multiple vehicle burglaries.

During the investigation, Chief Investigator Ted Motley received reports of a burglarized vehicle on Goolsby Road.

A man who was hunting on the road reported that his truck had been burglarized, and Motley said that the theft had been connected to Brown.

The charges of unlawful breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, criminal mischief III and theft of property III have been added to his original charges, which include theft of property I, driving under the influence, criminal mischief III, receiving stolen property I, two counts of criminal trespass III, criminal littering, two counts of unlawful breaking and entering of a motor vehicle and theft of property III.

Brown is still being held at the Covington County Jail, and his bond amount has been set at $100,000.

He is also on hold for the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office for a stolen truck, and Motley said once they are done with Brown, they would send him back for those charges.
