An Andalusia mother and her four children escaped a house fire Tuesday morning without injury, but are now in need of clothing.

The house fire occurred on Lindsey Bridge Road and the Andalusia Fire Department responded around 8 a.m.

April Sheridan and her four children, ages 5, 7, 12 and 15, were inside the home at the time of the fire, but were able to safely get out.

The majority of the back of the home was destroyed.

Family and friends at the scene said the fire is believed to be electrical-related.

Family friend Rosemary Cox said a couple of the children were sleeping and the oldest child had cooked eggs, but said everything had been turned off.

“They smelled smoke and when they checked the kitchen was in flames,” she said. “It’s a blessing that everyone got our safely.”

Around noon, Kevin Kennedy of the local Red Cross board was at the home gathering information to assist the family.

The family is in need of clothing in the following sizes:

• boys size 5 and 6 clothing, shoe size 12.5;

• girls size 10 and 12 clothing, shoe size 7;

• girls size 16 clothing, shoe size 9.5;

• men’s size 32 pants; large shirt, and 9.5 pants;

• women’s size 10 shoes; 18 pants and 1-XL shirt.
