November rainfall totals down

Choctawhatchee, Pea and Yellow Rivers Watershed Management Authority recorded only 1.44 inches of rain in Covington County in November.

Rainfall is measured at Yellow River on Hwy. 55. There was 2.16 inches of rain in the same period last year.

Year to date, 56.05 inches of rain have been recorded at Yellow River, compared to 58.76 for the same period last year.

Similar results have been recorded across the Choc-Pea region, which includes Barbour, Coffee, Covington, Dale, Geneva, Henry, Houston and Pike counties.

While Covington County has been slightly drier than last year, it hasn’t been nearly as dry as other parts of the region.

Rainfall totals in Dothan, measured at Little Choctaw on Brannon Stand Road, only 46.12 inches have been recorded for the year, compared to 70.92 in the same period last year.

In Newton, 16 fewer inches of rain have been recorded last year. Totals measured on the Choctawhatcheee on Hwy. 123 N. were 51.76 inches for the year, compared to 67.12 last year.

In Geneva, rainfall totals recorded on the Choctawhatchee on Hwy. 52 are 55.84 inches for the year, compared to 81.60 inches in the same period last year.
