A Samson woman is dead following a two-vehicle collision in Opp Monday night.

Opp Police Chief Mike McDonald said the OPD and Opp Fire Department were dispatched to the crash near the intersection of County Road 91 and Bryant Circle around 6:30 p.m.

McDonald said officers found a 2000 Ford Explorer that was headed southbound on County Road 91 and a 2005 GMC Yukon that had exited Bryant Circle and was northbound on County Road 91.

Both vehicles sustained heavy front-end damage, McDonald said.

The occupants of the Yukon, a 41-year-old female Opp resident and a juvenile Opp resident, were transported by ground ambulance to Mizell Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The occupant of the Ford Explorer, a 50-year-old Samson resident, was transported by ground ambulance to Mizell Memorial Hospital, but was pronounced dead as a result of her injuries.

The names had not been released when the Star-News went to press, and the crash remains under investigation by OPD.
