The Andalusia Bulldog junior varsity boys were defeated 44-29 by the Georgiana Panthers last night in Andalusia.
The Panthers ran out to a 13-6 lead in the first period. In the first period, the Bulldogs had trouble turning the ball over, and that led to a few fast-break scores early on.
In the second period, the Bulldogs settled down a bit worked it back to a 17-13 deficit at halftime. The Bulldogs did a nice job putting pressure on shooters, and limited second chance opportunities.
The Panthers came out in the third quarter and scored 13 points, but also allowed the Bulldogs to score 10. After three periods, the Panthers stretched it to a 30-23 lead.
In the final period, the Panthers shut the door on the Bulldogs only allowing them to score 6 points. Turnovers were costly all night for the Bulldogs, as the Panthers were able to convert most in to two points.
Jayden Brown led the Bulldogs with 9 points, and Curtis Daniels added 6 points.
“We made too many mistakes,” Bulldogs’ coach Marshall Locke said. “We have to get better at fundamentals, and not turn the ball over so much. We can’t overcome ourselves and the opponent.”
