For those wanting to give the gift of art this holiday season, but not break the bank, there is “a very merry market” just for that.

The Lower Alabama Arts Council has opened a pop-up shop for Christmas shoppers with wares from local artists.

“The pop-up shop is now open inside The Gallery,” manager Sheila Rhea said. “We have local artisan type things, and are trying to appeal to people who may not want to spend a lot getting into the art world. There is affordable art for everybody.”

The shop offers items for less than $50, and Rhea said most items are less than $25.

There are prints by Roger Powell, photography prints by Lisa Moates and Bradley Burgess, original art from Peggy James and Liz Reid, “Heart & Soul” cookbooks, Kristy Shuford White’s “Andalusia” book, Vicky Tiel’s “All About the Dress” and Sally Patton Hall’s children’s books.

Zombee Candles are also available, and Rhea said there are three Christmas scents and a scent made especially for The Gallery in the store.

“We have note cards from Roger Powell, Sally Hall, Lisa Moates and Peggy James,” Rhea said. “Notecards make wonderful gifts for children to buy for their family and teachers.”

The Gallery is located at 116 East Three Notch St., and is open Tuesday through Friday, from noon to 5:30 p.m.
