Andalusia downs Elba Tigers

A stellar shooting performance in the second half lifted the Andalusia Bulldogs over the Elba Tigers 69-56 Saturday in the Red Level Christmas tournament. With the win the Bulldogs earned a spot in the championship game.

 

The game went back and forth in the first, but the Tigers held a slim 12-11 lead after one. Trevor Parker was the top scorer, in the first, for the Bulldogs with 4 points. Martin pace the Tigers with 6 points.

 

The lead continued to change hands, and the Bulldogs led at halftime 27-26. Jamal Hourel, B.J. Anderson, Devante Jackson and Parker had 4 points each. Jackson was also 2-for-2 from the free throw line.

 

The Bulldogs came out after halftime with a vengeance, and took a 49-42 lead into the final period of play. Parker remained on fire with 8 points in the period. Brosnan Cooks had 5 points for the Tigers.

 

In the fourth, the Bulldogs continued their excellent shooting performance to hold off the Tigers. Hourel finished the final period with 7 points.

 

Cooks led the Tigers with 16 points.

 

The Bulldogs’ leading scorer was Parker with 19 points. Anderson added 14 points in the Bulldogs’ victory. As a team the Bulldogs shot 19-for-22 from the free throw line. Jackson went 8-for-8 from the charity stripe in the win.
