The Opp Bobcats defeated the Red Level Tigers 60-55 Saturday in the Red Level Christmas tournament.

The Bobcats jumped out in front 14-11 after the first period. The Bobcats got 5 points each from Reggie Thompson and Cale Pierce in the first. Hunter Carpenter kept the score close for the Tigers with 7 points.

Carpenter continued shooting lights out from downtown with two more 3-pointers, and a total of 8 points in the second. The Bobcats kept pace with Devonte Williams scoring 7 points. At halftime, the Bobcats led 28-23.

In the third, the Bobcats got 5 points from both Thompson and Williams. Carpenter and Javarius Grooms had 4 points each for the Tigers, but trailed the Bobcats 42-38 heading into the final period.

The Bobcats and Tigers continued slugging it out in the fourth, but it was the Bobcats who emerged victorious. Williams had 5 more points for the Bobcats. Carpenter went 5-for-7 from the free throw line in the fourth for the Tigers.

Williams led the Bobcats with 19 points, and Thompson finished with 16 points.

The Tigers’ leading scorer was Carpenter with 24 points. Jeffery Perdue and Grooms each 10 points.

“We have a lot of guys playing in positions they aren’t used to, but they played hard,” Tigers’ head coach Allen Catrett said. “The kids gave the effort, but we are relying on the outside shot too much.”
