ADPH offers patches, support to quit smoking

For those who resolved to quit smoking in 2015, the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) offers free help to quit, including coaching and two weeks of nicotine patches, if eligible.

The Alabama Tobacco Quitline – 1-800-QUIT-NOW – is available every day from 6 a.m. to midnight.

Tobacco use is the single most preventable cause of death in the United States. Each year, 7,500 Alabamians die from smoking-related causes. According to the CDC, for every personthat dies, 20 people are suffering from at least one serious tobacco-related illness.
