The choir, which is composed of orphaned and disadvantaged children from several different countries, will perform at 6 p.m., on Wed., Jan. 14, at Andalusia Full Gospel Tabernacle.

“The choir represents a rich and culturally diverse set of backgrounds and experiences, each with an urgent story to tell,” said Mindy Day of AFGT. “This year’s ‘Rescue Tour’ calls attention to the staggering impact that poverty, malnutrition and dirty water have on millions of children around the world.”

The ministry discusses “the problem,” which focuses on the fact that 1 in 5 children under the age of 5 is underweight in developing countries.

Additionally, 1.8 million people die every year due to water-related illnesses. Ninety percent of these are children under the age of 5, and 1 out of every 13 children in the developing world is an orphan.

Children are from Nepal, Uganda, Brazil, India, Honduras and the Philippines.

Day said the choir provides a compelling message of hope and opportunity through song, dance, spoken word and creative media.

The choir focuses on Isaiah 58:10, 12, “if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday…you will be called repairer…restorer.”

She said the children’s choir has performed in venues such as Focus on the Family, Brooklyn Tabernacle and Disney World.

The event is free to the public.
