Straughn takes 2-of-3 from Headland

The Straughn Tigers took 2-of-3 from Headland Tuesday night in the first area games of the season.

 

Straughn’s B-team got the night kicked off with a 55-46 victory over Headland.  The win improves the B-team Tigers to 6-2 on the season.

 

The No.1 ranked Lady Tigers continued their dominance on the court with a 56-29 victory over Headland. The victory improves the Lady Tigers’ record to 14-5 and 1-0 in area play. The Lady Tigers took an early 18-4 lead at the end of the first, and were whipping Headland 39-17 at halftime. Jacie Williamson led the Lady Tigers with 11 points. Katelyn Kinsaul, Harley Adcock and Brentley Armstrong finished with 8 points each.

 

“We can play better,” Lady Tigers’ head coach Scott Kinsaul said. “We are going to have to rebound better.”

 

The Tigers’ varsity boys fought hard in the final game of the night, but were unable to complete the sweep of Headland, as they fell 59-53 in an extremely close contest.

 

The Straughn Tigers will be back in action on Friday as they face the Andalusia Bulldogs for the second area match up for both squads.

 

Andalusia’s varsity boys defeated Ashford Tuesday night 52-50 to improve to 7-6 and 1-0 in the area. The area consists of Andalusia, Straughn, Ashford and Headland.
